Milan Fashion Week
12:51 - 26/02/2012,

Milan Fashion Week started a couple of days ago. But what does that mean? A man once told me that you can choose what kind of fashion person you are, according to which fashion city you prefer. Because in each and everyone of them there are few characteristic styles and feelings. In Milan’s case, it is all about the Italian elegance, tradition, glamour and too much jewellery and make-up. Most of the brands have a long history and a big knowledge of handcraft comparing to New York and London with their young, creative, new-thinking designers.

I am looking forward to see the Milanese colors, prints and fabrics at Gucci, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo and MaxMara but also the outfits the street style icons Anna Dello Russo, Aurora Sansone, Viviana Volpicella are putting together.

Modern Vagabond by Dagmar
10:29 - 24/02/2012, Tags: , , , ,

Acne’s Jonny Johansson doesn’t seem to be the only one who got inspired by Morocco this season. The sisters behind the brand Dagmar also got inspired by the simple and relaxing life style in Morocco and created a collection for the modern vagabond. Their idea was that the garments should be relaxing but still glamorous, made for the traveling woman who is going to parties, working long hours and but is still having some moments to relax.

Mathilda von Essen is wearing a red dress from Dagmar’s spring collection.

The Italian style by Marni

The Parisian women know how to dress in a simple and sophisticated way. They can wear a pair of black skinny jeans with a light blue shirt and still look like the coolest in the world. But the Italians know the art to dress with colors, patterns in different fabrics and still look elegant. Prada, Marni and Viviana Volpicella (the picture) are experts on it.

Yesterday I went through all the Marni at H&M collection and I can’t wait for it to launch. I think this will probably be the most successful collaboration H&M ever had thanks to the amazing fabrics, cuts and accessories. I will probably go for the blue skirts with dots and match it with a simple light blue shirt! What about you? Which pieces will you fight for on March the 8th?

LATEST PROJECT
We’ve just recently started to produce our own inspirational shoots for Nitty Gritty´s women´s department. They can be likened with small editorials that usually are found in stylish fashion magazines, but with having the luxury of all goods involved coming exclusively from us at Nitty Gritty. An incredibly exciting and fun project!
.
With this, we aim to showcase our handpicked pieces in a more vibrant and inspiring setting, in addition to the clean product shots found in our webshop. We have just now published the pictures from the second shoot, by photographer Elisabeth Frang and stylist Gisela Rydberg. They have, along with Therese Svenbo (hair & make) and model Patti P (Mikas), made such a beautiful story of this new spring season at Nitty Gritty!

INSPIRATION
Our biggest source of inspiration is the nature with its perfect and imperfect shapes and function. The jewellery is not just about nature but also about city life. Our jewellery lies between the two worlds. For example, our pebbles necklace is a casted pebble stone from a beach in Bretagne. The shape of our pebble is the exact same as the one on the beach but we made it wearable for people in an elegant way. It is a reminder of the feeling of strolling around, collecting pebbles in your pocket.

The same way we can get inspiration from nature we can also get from the city. It can be a building, place or music.

Another source of inspiration is people. There are so many talented people all over who love what they do and they do it so well. It is important for us to have this kind of people around us.
